Immediate Steps

Check if it’s local or widespread
- Check the circuit breaker panel (see Electrical Panel Locations)
- Look if neighbors have power
- Check with electric company

Preserve food
- Keep refrigerator/freezer doors closed
- Fridge stays cold ~4 hours, freezer ~48 hours if full

Storm-Related Outages
During Storms
- Stay indoors away from windows
- Do not go outside to check power lines
- Assume all downed lines are live and dangerous
- Report downed lines to emergency services (112)
If Power is Out for Extended Period

Restoring Power After an Outage
Main Property Switch
After a storm or widespread outage, the main property switch may need to be reset. Follow the diagram below.
Steps to Restore Power
- Wait for the storm to pass - do not attempt during active lightning
- Check the main property switch (see diagram above)
- Follow the sequence shown - switches must be reset in correct order
- Check individual floor breakers if some areas still have no power (see Circuit Breaker Locations)
If Power Does Not Restore
If following these steps does not restore power:
- Do not repeatedly flip switches
- There may be damage to the electrical system
- Contact an electrician or the electric company
